The Best Advice So Far edition by Erik Tyler SelfHelp eBooks

I am generally not a fan of the advice or "self help" genre of books, however this book was recommended to me by a friend whose opinions I trust, so I gave it a shot. I'm very happy that I did. The book is written as if the author were having a series of conversations with an old friend instead of an audience of strangers. Deft humor, insightful wit, and clever use of personal experience (without making himself the focus of attention) seem to be Mr. Tyler's vehicles for reaching out and touching the hearts and minds of his readers. Using these, he’s very successful at having the reader, at the end of each chapter, excitedly wondering "What's next?" I'd highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to take a serious look at how they approach life, and see the world as whole, but maybe aren't sure how to change aspects they're unhappy with. Also, "The Best Advice So Far" would make an excellent gift for anyone who is taking the next big step in their life, such as: graduation, new job, marriage, kids, etc. If you’re not sure if this type of book is for you, set aside your skepticism like I did, and read with an open mind. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

The Best Advice So Far edition by Erik Tyler SelfHelp eBooks Reviews

Witty, charming, meaningful, and it somehow packs a punch that keeps you coming back for more. TBASF is unique from other "advice books". It does not paint a picture of the perfect life, and show you how to get it, but rather offers simple, practical tools that inevitably result in you being more passionate about your own life. The truths are laid out with practical application, cushioned throughout with stories of hilarity and heart, told in a way that feels more like Saturday afternoon coffee with a friend than reading a book. Can't recommend it enough!
This book contains what may seem like simple ideas on the surface. However, implementing these ideas is empowering. I agree that choosing to live your life as the driver, and not the passenger, is crucial. We all have the power within us to become who we want to be, and to impact others. It is a daily choice. I really connected with the chapter about humility. The world would be a different place if everyone would embrace that truth. This book gives great perspective.
“Can I give you some advice?” Most people flee in terror at this question, but this book is quite the opposite - advice that you will welcome, written in an entertaining, relatable style that not only makes you want to integrate it into your life but makes it seem very doable (which it is). Regardless of where you are in life, the advice in this book will help you to get wherever it is you want to go.

As another reviewer suggested, this will go on my ‘read yearly’ (or more often) list, and will be a frequent gift to those I care about.
Honest, real, and packed with practical life wisdom. The Best Advice So Far, will make your realize that you always--always--have a choice! Highly recommended for teens, college student's, and adults! Whatever your circumstances or stage of life may be, this book will provide you with wisdom for the journey! Five stars and highly recommended!
You know you have found a great book when you feel like your life is more full and more alive when you set it down. The Best Advice So Far gave me insights through tangible stories that pushed me to live a life that matters.

It rocks and I can't wait to share it with my wife, friends, and family!
This was an easy read. There is a lot of common sense in this book that many of us seem to almost "forget." This book is a nice reminder that we always have choices. It is easily digestible. You don't have to sit and read it like a novel. You can take in a few chapters at a time and then put the info provided in those chapters to good use during your day. A nice little reference should you start feeling down. Go back and re-read your favorite chapters any time for a little inspiration. Well written. Underlying the individual chapters is a story about the author's own life and growth that gives this "advice" book and personal touch.
Once in a while a great book finds its way into your life, and from page one, its impact is dramatic and instantaneous... growing as every page, every chapter is quickly devoured. I felt that Erik was talking to me, sharing with me his life episodes with candor and humility and with a sense of humor that surprised and entertained me all the way through the book. I loved his personal stories that came along with the magnificently down-to-earth and easy-to-implement life lessons and advice he shared. Some were heart-wrenching and some were just so funny that I would find myself caught off guard suddenly laughing out loud while sitting in an airplane or on a quiet park bench, by myself, with strangers walking by. I read the book twice- first time just taking it all in with awe and the second time with a pen and note paper voraciously jotting down Erik's main quote for each chapter. Loved the appendix with the thoughtful questions for each topic. I immediately started using many of his tidbits of advice, such as focusing on the intent of someone's actions instead of on what the person did. (This technique has already diffused some major arguments in my house with my good- intentioned husband. Thank you!!) I just bought three more books for family members and am letting everyone know that if you liked Dale Carnegie books you'll love Erik's book even more. To keep me satisfied until a sequel is born, I'm reading through Erik's blog posts which are amazing as well. Congratulations on a book that will touch and change many lives!
