November Gales was an easy read and would probably be appropriate for a young adult reader. What I didn't realize before reading this book was that much of it was a fictionalization to capture what the life of a crew man is like. If you are looking for facts or theories to why the Edmund Fitzgerald sank, this is not the book.Product details

This book comes across like it was written by an elementary school student. If you're looking for an historical volume on the Edmund Fitzgerald, you can do better than this one.
Dan Bomkamp came to my attention with his fact/fiction stories (no sex) about teenage guys learning to hunt/fish in a town in Wisconsin noted for such activities. However, this book is based on a historical event that happened many years ago. The story is great, and it brought tears to my eyes at the end, but it's still about an event that happened in the shipping industry. I like happy endings, but that's not always what life brings our way. We take the good with the bad sometimes, and this story has both. The title will let you know that this story is not going to be a happy one. Still, I encourage you to read it.
